Limbo is a 2D sidescroller, combining the Box2D physics system to organize the environment objects and player characters. The player guides an unnamed boy through dangerous neighborhoods and traps as he searches for his sister.
The developers build game puzzles expecting players to fail before finding the right solution. Playdead is called the “trial and death” style of play, and is used for the horrific images of the boy’s death to direct players from unworkable solutions.
